Pastor Marilyn McClain responded to the prompting and inspiration of the Holy Spirit in July, 2007 to gather friends and family in her living room, for the purpose of studying the Word of God together. For three years on Friday nights the group met, enjoyed the fellowship of the Holy Spirit during study time and grew in faith, love and the wisdom of the Word. Bible study would take place whether there were 2 or 20 in number.

“Early in 2010 I began to realize there was a dramatic spiritual and emotional change taking place as I felt to be in a grieving stage, but why and what I did not know. However, while out of state the whole month of April caring for my sister, I realized through prayer and meditation, that it was time to leave my church home, IMBC. A family I had come to love so deeply, and my heart was breaking. Upon my return to IMBC in May I said good by and began to visit knowing that the Lord would lead me to my next home. Even though I enjoyed every visit and worship service, God did not plant my feet so I kept walking. It was during this time that the Holy Spirit of our Lord began to overwhelm me with thoughts, ideas, purpose, mission and vision. As the Bible Studies continued we began to discuss the impressions of the Lord and recognized that as of 10/10/10 “It was Time”.”

On 11/19/10 GLA held it’s initial organizational meeting during which seven(7) members joined. Also through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, as the Lord gave instruction, the name Greater Love Assembly was adopted with the foundational Scripture John 15:13 – “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” If we all truly learn to live with this kind of sacrificial love, how much greater would we be living in the image of Christ. What glory to God it would be! The decision was made to hold worship services and bible study twice a month, by-laws were adopted, church covenant and ordinances were established. 

In April, 2011, the Holy Spirit would again inspire and prompt us to start planning to implement full services and the month of June was elected. During this planning stage Greater Love Assembly became Chartered as Greater Love Assembly Baptist Church. And as God would have it, we began to have every Sunday worship on June 5,2011 which was also our first convert’s baptism.

The next great achievement would come in March 2012 when the Holy Spirit would impress upon us that it was time to move from the hotel to a location, affordable space with Christian landlords. 

​

As we continue to magnify and glorify our God, He continues to lead, guide and direct our path. With great prayer, meditation and in faith, 2013 and 2014 has also been great years for GLABC, 

establishing the Praise team and the Evangelism Ministry. The GLABC family continues to strive together giving God all the glory, the honor and the praise for which He is so worthy.
